Cheryl Somers Aubin

Cheryl Somers Aubin is a writer, instructor, and speaker. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Writing from Johns Hopkins University. Her essays and articles have appeared in the Washington Post, Boston Globe, Journal Newspapers, Elan Magazine, Foundation Magazine, and other publications in print and online.

Writer

Writing for twenty years, Cheryl specializes in personal essays and memoir. She is widely published and has also contributed to newsletters and company publications, and edited a book on retirement.

Instructor
 
Cheryl has taught memoir writing for Johns Hopkins University and for several Northern Virginia community centers.  She creates a comfortable and safe classroom environment that allows students to share their moving personal stories. Arlington County officials describe Cheryl as a "warm and talented instructor."
 
Speaker
 
Cheryl was selected to read an essay and participate on a panel for a DC Arts Commission project, "Women Artists/Women Healing" in March, 2009.
 
One of the featured presenters for the "Writing Your Personal History Symposium" in May 2009, Cheryl
also developed the theme, selected speakers, presented and presided at the "Writing Your Personal History" Symposium, Vienna, VA, May 2008.

Cheryl presents lectures and workshops on a number of writing topics, including writing your personal history, writing about faith and how to generate ideas.  She also presents workshops that combine memoir writing and art.
